心の中の塔
LEAの12月展示、Rebeca BashlyのThe Towerを見ました。
Rebecaさんは、「ダンテの神曲」、「輪の中の輪」、「キューブプロジェクト」等で何度も素晴らしい大規模アートを見せていただいた方。
解説ノートがないので、作者に意図を伺いました。
「この塔は暗喩、とらわれのシンボル。誰もが塔を持っている。
囚われたままの人たちは塔から出るだけの才能がない。それは閉ざされた心、信念の限界につながる」

Visited the December exhibition at LEA, The Tower by Rebeca Bashly. She is the artist who did many great works such as “Dante’s Divine Comedy”, “Circles within Circles” and “The Cube Project”. There was no explanatory note card, so I asked the artist what this art is about. She said,
“The tower is a metaphor, a symbol of entrapment. Everyone has a tower. The trapped peoples are not smart enough to leave the tower. That goes for limited beliefs, close minded “
居合わせたRebecaさんのお友達、Floraさんは「どう解釈するかは私たち個人によるのだと思う」と言ってた。
ので私も以下適当に解釈してみました。
逃げようともがくことが自分の首を絞めてしまう・・・反った身体、閉じた目、小さな鼻がセクシー。
A friend of Rebeca who was incidentally there said, “I guess it is up to each of us and how we interpret it.” So I did some arbitrary interpretation myself.
Struggling to be free ends up with strangling oneself…. The arched body, closed eyes and small nose are sexy.
ひとりで楽しみをみつけようとしても、それもまた自分を傷つけることに。
Although trying to entertain oneself, it also results in hurting self.
囚われの中で他の人を見つけても、そこには新しい束縛が生まれる。
Even finding other captive one, bringing in another new binding.
出口を求めて、這いまわり、上る人々。
Crawling and climbing looking after any exit.
中には塔そのものに吸収されてしまう人も。
なぜ女性のアバターが多いのかという質問には、「私が女性だから」だって。
Someone will be digested into the tower itself. I asked why there are many female shapes; Rebeca’s answer was “Because I am female.”
塔のしもべとなって仕える人も。身体のあちこちに咲いている青い花は、塔内にあるテレポーターに。
このポーズは私が勝手にやってるだけです（＾－＾）
Someone became a servant of the tower to work for it. The blue flowers on the body are the shape of teleporter in the tower. This pose is not provided but my own.
各ステージを繋ぐテレポーター。右のポーズは私のでないよ。
移動の際に変な恰好にされるのは、作者の意図なんでしょうか（＾－＾）
The teleporter connecting stages. This pose on the right is not mine. Is the strange pose at teleporting the creator’s intention?
最後のステージにある抱擁の像。愛は場所を選ばず、ということか、愛する人に巡りあうことが塔からの脱出を意味する？
素敵なアートですが、以前に紹介した「壊れた橋」も1SIMだったのと比べると、スケールを生かしてないと感ずるのがちょと残念でした。
Hugging statue situated at the end. Does it mean that love will not mind place, or is love the way out? This tower is a cool art, but comparing with the single SIM of destroyed bridge that was introduced before, I felt that this could have used the full SIM more effectively.
