ボパールの悲劇
1984年12月、インド・ボパールのユニオン・カーバイド社のプラントから殺虫剤の原料、イソシアン酸メチルが大量に流出し多くの死者を出した事故。
そのメモリアルSIMがありました。事故に関する判決が出たのは25年後の2010年、まだその後も補償問題や後遺症が残っているそうです。
このSIMには事故の詳細が音声、スライドショウ、SLブック、写真展などで詳しく説明されています。

In December 1984, from a plant of Union Carbide at Bhopal India, Methyl Isocyanate gas leaked and killed thousands of people. There is a SIM commemorating that incident. The first judgment was delivered in 2010, twenty five years later, but the damage has not been recovered yet. In this SIM, there are slide shows, TVs, announcement, SL-books, and photo exhibition explaining this incident in detail.
事故は反応性の物質のパイプラインに誤って水が混入されたこと、
初期に圧力上昇の警報がなったのに監督者が「計器の誤作動だろう。お茶の時間だから後にしよう」と放置していたとか。
説明を聞く限り何も自然災害はなく、人災であるように思えます。写真はお断りしてスライドショウから引用です。
The direct cause was water wrongly entered pipelines of reactive material that caused explosion. It was said that the supervisor said when he noticed a warning of pressure increase he said, “It would be an error of the sensor. It is tea time now. Let us handle it later.” As far as I read, there was no natural calamity and the incident was caused by human errors. The pictures below are from the slide show with permission.
イソシアン酸メチルは毒性が強く、気体は空気より重いので地面を這うように広がり、付近の住宅を襲いました。
生存した方々の話では、涙、鼻水、咳がひどかったそうです。
青酸ガスのように直ちに酸素欠乏で窒息症状となるのでなく、肺を侵されるので非常に苦しいようです。
数千人がその場で死亡、最終的には死者は１万数千人、障害は５万人に達したとも言われます。
SIMには犠牲者の方々の写真もありました。お母さんに頬を寄せるようにして一緒に行ってしまった子供たちも・・・
The poisonous gas of Methyl icocyanate is heavier than the air and spread out on ground surface, attacked the residential area. Survivors said that they suffered from severe agony with tear, running nose, and cough. MIC is different from cyanide fume that causes suffocation due to lack of oxygen, damages lung and causes horrible pain. It is said that the instant death was about couple thousands, and the total dead and injured reached several ten thousands. There are pictures of victims, including a child with cheek to cheek with the mother...

「このSIMは事件の芸術的解釈であり、ビジターに荒廃の感じを伝えるように作ったので、実際の状況を再現しているのではありません」
There is a cremation pit. But the explanation panel said, “This SIM is an artistic interpretation of that event, and is designed to give visitors a feeling of the devastation. It does not reflect a realistic portrayal of the existing Bhopal. “

「このテーマと関係ないキャラクタに出会うかもしれないが、邪魔されないでください。ここではロールプレイに参加する必要はありません」

放射能の閉じ込めの見通しがつかない福島の原子炉、
「日本であわや世界規模の惨事になるかもしれかかった事故があった」 ということでSLに登場するようなレベルまで安定してほしい・・・
The incident at the nuclear plant at Fukushima Japan still is not unforeseeable in blocking the radiation. I hope it will be stabilized soon to the level that someone creates a SIM memorizing “There was an incident in Japan that came near to a global catastrophe.”

こんな恐ろしい事故二度と起きてほしくない人災ですね。
うちの会社でも、福島第一原発に袋被せる工事の職員募集を募ってましたが、１日二万円の手当ではとても行けません。
あれだけの放射線量に耐えれて人が作業できる防護服が日本にあるのでしょうかね。
他の震災復興には行ってるけどあそこはな〜根性無しです。
